Cam looks forward to planting our garden every year (and is the only one really!), but I'm grateful because without him, we probably would never get around to doing a garden at all. So we made a family night lesson out of it. So last week for family night, we learned about gardening, what grows in a garden and how to take care of a garden and that it's important to know how to garden so we have food for emergencies. That part of the lesson lasted about 3 minutes since the girls were dying to get out to the garden and start planting our fruits and vegetables for the year. This is our second year of doing our garden so we kept our usual veggie staples: tomatoes and cucumbers and added a few extras: strawberries, watermelon, grapes and pumpkins which we hope will grow nicely so we can use our own pumpkins to carve at Halloween!

When Daddy first stepped into the garden he took his shoes off and the girls were freaking out that he was getting his feet so dirty (such girls!), then they wanted to join him. When Sydnee joined him though, she wasn't so excited about the feeling of mud between her toes!

So she got out of the dirt as fast as she could and figured she'd help by sporting the ol' work gloves. Way to help Syd! Her face just says it all, "What!? I'm helping, by looking pretty!"
