Our visit to Ohio

Since we now live in Indiana, we are blessed to still live close enough to visit the Drake's in Michigan and our friends in Ohio where we visited a couple of weeks ago. Hallie remembered her friends in Ohio (including her friend, Jessi who is a week older than her), and still asks me what they're doing during the day, weeks later!

Hallie and Jessy treasure the moment of being together again!

"Kids Say and Do the Darndest Things" Entries

This section is dedicated to our children and the priceless memories and countless laughs we'll share together.

~"Obsessive Compulsive" (April 2007, Hallie 15 months old)
Every time I would change Hallie's diaper on her changing table, she always played with the two pictures of Winnie the Pooh that are hung above the changing table. She would usually kiss the pictures and touch them, pointing out the different characters and objects in them. When she is done, I always use two fingers to straighten them again. One day, while I was changing her diaper, she kissed the pictures and pointed to them as usual and without thinking twice about it, she used two fingers and straightened them!? What has her obsessive compulsive mommy done to her?

~"Stolen Doritos" (July 2007, Hallie 18 months old)
We were at my parents visiting and I was on the couch eating Dorito chips. My sister, Stacey, asked Hallie to bring her a Dorito chip, so Hallie grabbed a chip and on her way to Stacey, she ate it! When she got to Stacey, she realized that the chip was gone and looked at her hands, trying to remember where the chip went. Hallie then went to get another chip to bring the Stacey and this time she stared at the chip only to catch herself eating it. When she realized she ate it, she looked at us and started laughing as if to say, "Oops!"

~"Hallie Lingo" (November 2007, Hallie 22 months old)
Hallie calls Grandpa "Papa" and Grandma "Popgra"... sorry Grandma!

~"Dolly Time-Outs" (March 2008, Hallie 2 years old)
Hallie is very good and very realistic when it comes to playing house or mommy with her dolls. Lately, she'll tell me that her baby hit. So I ask her what she'll do and she says "Time out!" She then throws her baby on the floor and counts, "1, 2, 3, 10!" and makes her baby give her kisses and hugs like we make Hallie do when she goes to time out.

~"Daddy's Pregnant" (March 2008)
We've started preparing Hallie for the arrival of her brother or sister, so I've been telling her that the baby is in my tummy. The other night, Cameron was changing and Hallie pointed to his belly and said, "Baby?" Cam was so embarrassed and was convinced he needed to lost weight!

~"Just Eat!" (March 2008)
Hallie takes forever to eat because she is so easily distracted (what toddler doesn't!?). So during every meal, I'm constantly saying, "Hallie... EAT!" (putting a huge emphasis on the word "eat".) The other morning, I was talking on the phone while we ate breakfast (obviously not eating) and Hallie looked at me after I had been on the phone for a while and said, "Mommy... EAT!"

~"Soccer Cheerleader" (April 2008)
Hallie and I went to Cam's first soccer game (through his work, Avery Dennison) last night and she was so fascinated with the game. She would clap and say "Yay!" when everyone else would and every time Cam would do a header with the ball, Hallie would yell, "Careful, Daddy!"

~"Sharing Her Emotions" (April 2008)
Hallie woke up a little early a few mornings ago, yelling "Mommy!" so that I would come and let her out of her room since we have a childproof lock on her door to keep her from wandering around at night. I wasn't quite ready to get out of bed yet, so I rolled over and thought I'd fall asleep for just a few more minutes. When I woke up again, I realized I had slept for another hour and hurried into Hallie's room to let her out. When I opened the door, Hallie was on her bed with her arms folded and said, "Hallie mad!" I started to laugh and asked her why she was mad. She looked at me very seriously and said, "Hallie get out!"

Share the memories!

Welcome to our website/blog! It's been fun and addicting putting this together, but I'm so glad you can share the memories of our growing family with us! I'm sure some of you are wondering where we are and what's new in our lives, so here's an update:
  • Our Family: We moved from Ohio last October to Indiana with Cameron's job. It was a rough move for us, leaving good friends behind in Ohio, but we have grown to like it here. We are in a beautiful townhouse with a yard and garage which we enjoy having, and Hallie even has her own playroom! We will be here in Indiana until April of 2009, and then... who knows where!? Cameron's rotational program is finished next April, so we will move the last and final time with Avery Dennison or Cameron could go back to school for his master's degree... we'll go wherever the Lord needs us! We are also excited for our new arrival due June 3rd!
  • Cameron: Cameron really enjoys his job here as the Master Production Scheduler at Avery's plant, and has developed quite the reputation of being "a prankster" at work. He and a co-worker (and good friend) are considered "trouble" whenever they are seen together. They have pulled quite a few pranks on people at work, luckily everyone they work with is easy going and enjoys them... including the plant's manager!! Cameron is in the Young Men's Presidency in our ward at church and he also started playing soccer this week with a team from work which he enjoys.
  • Shannon: Shannon has grown quite a bit...literally... from being pregnant with our second child which is due on Grandma Drake's birthday June 3rd! We are getting anxious as it grows closer, and we also keep reminding each other that we only have five more weeks of sleeping through the night!? We did not find out the sex of the baby again... we chose to be surprised. But if you ask Hallie what we're having, she'll say a boy or a girl... it depends on the day that you ask her! Shannon has started another Family Home Evening file group in our ward and it seems to be a big hit with the moms. Shannon has also picked up scrapbooking again (it's probably the "nesting" instinct in her to get our albums up to date before the baby comes!) and enjoys that hobby while Hallie is recharging (sleeping). Shannon's calling is ward music director... simple and easy!
  • Hallie: Hallie is blossoming and we've discovered that she is quite athletic. She turned 2 in January and loves to run, be outside, and throw balls and frisbees. So although she's a girl, she's become quite the tomboy when it comes to sports (which Cam is very proud of!). Hallie is talking more and more every day, saying three word sentences now. She talks Mommy's ear off during the day, and when Daddy comes home, she is still daddy's little girl. She gets so excited to see him home that she literally squeals in delight!
We will try our best to keep this updated with new pictures and updates of our little family. Also, when the baby is born, we will post pictures on here for you all to see so be sure to add our website to your favorites and feel free to post comments too. We'd love to hear from you!
